BARBARA CARTER

CARTER--Barbara, passed away on November 26, 2025. Friends and family mourn Barbara's passing. She was the daughter of the late Thomas E. Higgins and Irene Piaggio Higgins and former wife of the late Julian Carter. She attended Kenwood Academy of the Sacred Heart in Albany and received degrees from Manhattanville College and New York University. Barbara maintained close ties with her Manhattanville classmates worldwide through monthly group calls. Her 30-year career in non-profit fundraising was devoted to healthcare and education, including at Visiting Nurse Service, NYU, St. Luke's-Roosevelt, and Metropolitan College. An avid New Yorker, Barbara loved opera and theater, with a special place in her heart for Samuel Beckett, and shared a wide array of trenchant analyses about our complex world. We will miss you, our kind and generous friend. We look forward to celebrating Barbara's life in Greenwich Village in the new year.
