BARBARA GOLD Obituary
GOLD--Barbara. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Gold, age 83, of Aspen, Colorado on September 28, 2025. A vibrant and generous soul, Barbara dedicated her life to community service and left an indelible mark on the hearts of many throughout her remarkable journey. Born in Chicago in 1942, Barbara was a spirited woman who pursued her education in Illinois before embarking on a career. After college, she worked for the renowned department store Carson, Pirie, Scott where she honed her business acumen and developed an eye for fashion. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to New York City, where she founded her own company, Dutchess Lingerie, combining her love for design with her vision for empowering women. In New York, Barbara met John Gold, the love of her life and future husband. Their partnership flourished as they built a loving life together. Eventually they moved to Woody Creek, Aspen, Colorado where they enjoyed many happy years together until John's untimely passing. After John's death, Barbara relocated to Aspen, where she continued to pour her heart into the community. She became a dedicated volunteer at Aspen Valley Hospital and engaged with various local charitable organizations, tirelessly contributing her time and effort to uplift those in need. Her passion for philanthropy resonated through her work with the Aspen Community Foundation and the Aspen Santa Fe Ballet, where her support and involvement helped nurture the cultural fabric of the community. Barbara is survived by her dedicated brother, Jim Rothschild and her beloved nieces Alexandra (Jarod, son Sawyer) and Katherine (Joe, daughter Grace), stepdaughters Carolyn (Bob) and Ellen (Adam) and granddaughter Natalie. Together they will carry forward her legacy of love, compassion and community service. A celebration of Barbara's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Barbara's name to the Aspen Community Foundation or the Aspen / Santa Fe Ballet, organizations she held dear to her heart. Barbara Gold will be profoundly missed, but her spirit of generosity and her commitment to helping others will forever inspire us to continue her legacy of love and compassion.
