Barry Talesnick Obituary

TALESNICK--Barry, age 60, died well on October 21 at home with a quiet mind and almost no effort. Tender husband to soulmate Gaynor Cote, devoted son of Harry and Dorothy, brother of Ken and Terry, uncle, loving friend, he was a native New Yorker, taxi driver, school teacher, City administrator, performer and massage therapist. A member of the a capella group "The Art Mob", he appeared often as the heartthrob lead singer of "Barry and the Barrytones". Barry was grateful for his near-decade survival since the diagnosis of an advanced cancer. His great realization was to live in the moment. Please donate to City Harvest and eat a simple meal with consciousness and gratitude.

Gaynor, I am sorry I did not get to see Barry before he left us. I graduated in 1968 and I lost touch with most of the guys. Barry was so much fun and a really unique individual. from the comments it sounds like you had a wonderful life together. We all loved Barry and he was a great example of living life in a wonderful way. I wish I can do as well. Travel safe.

Gaynor:
I too did not know you but was a fraternity brother of Barry's. It has been well over 40 years since Barry and I had crossed paths, but I remember Barry for his "presence". and "individuality".
He is in a much better place no longer suffering.
We will long remember "The Rocket Man"

Gaynor:

I did not know you but I did know Barry. My brother told my you guys had quite an eclectic life way back when. When I graduated from Adelphi in '67 I was drafted into the Army and was gone and out of touch with everyone for a couple of years.

I wish I could have seen Barry again after 40 years. It is a fitting tribute that he is "The Rocket Man".
