On behalf of myself and several Salisbury classmates, we wanted to share that we were truly touched by his passing in heartfelt ways that for each of us has unique meaning. Over the four years we spent with Ben we created many wonderful lifelong memories which have now been dusted off and enjoyed again! However, most importantly not only did he exemplify the Salisbury mission of ‘loyalty and honor’ but it was his friendship and character that we will remember the most and remain dear to us to this day. We will forever be indebted to Ben for sharing his spirit, humor, friendship and loyalty....Ben enriched our lives in more ways than we know and it was honor to have known him. God Bless our friend Ben. You and your family are in our prayers....forever.

I would like to echo everything in the Obituary about Ben's unusual intelligence, his outstanding character, which showed in how he held himself back to allow others to shine, his warmth as a person and other evidence of his talent in relating to a broad range of people. In addition, I must note Ben's extraordinary courage and selflessness during his many years of battling a debilitating and mystifying illness. He never complained or tried to attract attention to himself; he focussed on his friends and family and on staying engaged with the world.
I got to know Ben in the mid 1990s in NYC when we founded the American Friends of the Royal Court Theatre together. He was a natural leader in that endeavour even though he had many other responsibilities on his plate. One of my regrets in life is not spending enough time with Ben and Margaret over the last 25 years, because they are among the people I admire most in the world.
I send you my heartfelt condolences Margaret and Isabel as you grieve at the passing on of a most remarkable, courteous, engaging and kind gentleman.

Ben had true presence and a vigorous curiosity. He was open with his viewpoint and to hearing yours, but mostly to bring you to his way of thinking. Mostly he did—having thought the matter through already. He laughed easily and richly. Deep and respectful fondness, that's what I have for Ben. Classmate, friend, and positive influence. RIP, Sir.

It's been at least two decades since I last spoke with my Salisbury friend Ben. And yet, news of his passing has me feeling so terribly empty and sad. That must surely say something about the breadth and depth of the space he once occupied in my youth. Rest eternal Ben...light perpetual!

Ben, a dear friend and one of the most courteous, decent people who ever walked this earth, will always live in my memory as he appears in this photo. RIP, BB...

This is such sad news. Ben and I were childhood friends and attended Episcopal together. Even as children, you knew Ben was destined for great things. Rest in Peace, my old friend.

So sorry to hear of this loss, a man taken from the world too early. He was a graceful and welcoming spirit, a man who laughed easily and gave joy to others. I only met him a few times, but those times are vivid in my memory. Love to his family in this time of sadness
