BERNICE TANENBAUM Obituary

TANENBAUM--Bernice, Bernice Tanenbaum, 96, passed away the evening of August 29, at North Shore University Hospital. She graduated from City College of New York and received Masters Degrees in Reading and Education. Born in the Bronx in 1929, the younger of two children to Louis and Celia Belmont. Bernice is survived by her four sons, Seth (Deborah), Mark, Daniel (Esther) and Richard (Karin), her ten grandchildren, Molly (Ian), Jessica (Peter), Gregory (Kelly), Noah, Kasey (Timothy), Charlotte (Ryan), Sam, Lea, Theodore and Miranda, five great-grandchildren, Oscar, Leo, Pearl, Selene and Poppy. Her husband, Joseph, her parents and her sister, Shirley, predeceased. Bernice was a determined woman who lived a full life. She was an elementary school teacher in NYC public schools while simultaneously raising her four sons. She and her husband, Joseph enjoyed traveling the world and instilled in their children the importance of philanthropy. Bernice will be missed by so many who loved her. Donations may be made to Commonpoint, American Technion or the Macular Degeneration Asso- ciation.
