To his wife Lorraine,

I wan to express my condolences to you and your son Trevor. We all met one time in 2010 at your apartment near City Hall with my son Sean (same age) present. If you recall, I was a fiend and classmate when we both attended NYU (1971-1975). I ran into a possible student of his with whom I am working in Orange Park, Florida and the latter prompted me to look up Brian and discover that he died 11/5/15. You are welcome to contact me at the e mail address specified below.

Dear Lorraine and Trevor. My prayers are with you both and my heart weighs heavy as I have just come to learn of Brian's passing. Needless to say I am profoundly shocked about losing my dear friend - the one with the biggest heart, widest grin, greatest wit and best humor. The decades flash before me. Brian and I go way, way back- beginning as Fordham undergrads, onto our tight-knit Columbia TC clan, then our NASA family (Brian was our first space cadet intern), onto weddings, our shared mentor - Warner Burke, work together at Ciba-Geigy with Jack Fuerer, PwC, and then the wonderful child rearing years. It all seems so long ago and yet so present. Through the years, Brian has been the "larger than life" presence. The ONE who made EVERYONE feel valued, special and loved. That was his true gift. To our dear friend Brian, may God keep you ever safe and ever present!

Brian was a man of the ages filled with life, laughter and love. We were at graduate school at Columbia in 1978 where Brian gathered up the Ph.D. students and became our "social chairman". Everything he did became a memorable experience getting the very most out of life whether it was something academic, career-related, parties in NYC or houses in the Hamptons. Brian was a special gift to so many people. It was a privilege and honor to know him. Our hearts and love go out to Lorraine and Trevor.

For the short time I knew him, I learned a lot from him. Great man, very caring and supportive. The students love him. his classes were always full and very interesting. We are missing him. My heart goes to his family.

Dear Lorraine,Trevor & Family,
We share in your sadness and grief. Brian was a dear friend and colleague to Bill and I. We shared so many wonderful memories of him both personally and in business at Ciba-Geigy, Ardsley, New York. He was a brilliant yet funny guy and I remember how easily he could make me laugh. Let Brian's spirit and love guide you in the days ahead and give you strength. Please know how sorry we are for your loss.

When I saw Brian's name it brought me back over 40 years when we met as freshman at NYU. I remember him as smart, fun and gregarious. We lost touch once our group graduated but whenever I am in Chinatown I think of him as he lived on Park Row with his family during his college years. I was very sorry to hear of his passing. He was too young.

Brian and I were childhood friends. We have known each other since we were 12-13 years old. We lived across from each other. We have thousands of great stories and memories growing up together in downtown NYC. He was my best man at my wedding. It is heart breaking to lose a cherished childhood friend. I will MISS him!

It was a great shock to learn last Friday of the passing of a great friend, Brian Maruffi. I met Brian twenty years ago at Ernst & Young LLP in New York and we remained good friends ever since. He was a brilliant management consultant, teacher, historian and problem solver. I always admired his knowledge and love for history and his extraordinary book collection. I will miss him dearly. My heart felt sympathy goes out to the Maruffi family and especially to Lorraine and Trevor.

Brian was in my graduating class of 1971 at St. Agnes Boys' High School, and I last saw him in June 1971. Even though 44 years have passed, I still have a clear memory of him, because he was truly unforgettable: full of high energy and brilliance. He challenged his teachers, and they loved it! My deepest sympathies to his entire family.

God broke the mold when he made Dr. Brian Maruffi! He treated this former farm boy from Minnesota turned Leadership Trainer as a peer. Brian taught me a lot and introduced me to serveral in his field whiched also enhanced my learning! I will never forget the time when we were both in Basel on Dec 6th. and I took Brian out to dinner in Baseland. Driving back to Basel we encountered St.
Nick in red and his sidekick -Schumtzli (a weird elf dressed in black) at a stoplight--my side window was open and Schmutzli snarled at us in Swiss German and threw oranges into my cars scaring Brian out of his wits! Being a New Yorker; he thought we were going to be robbed. As we drove away, I explained it was just December 6 Christmas Holiday. Then the laughing Brian I knew was there next to me- the happy Dr. Brian Maruffi I will always remember!

With a great shock and sadness I have received the news that Brian has passed away. In 2007 he had joined drpetriconsulting & partner Ltd. as a Senior Management Partner and was a much appreciated colleague and friend of many years.
We talked recently on the phone exchanging thoughts about papers to be published and discussed project work. Nothing had indicated that this would be our last conversation.
I wish his wife Lorraine and his son Trevor from all my heart the courage necessary to deal with the challenges of this difficult and sad time.
I will miss Brian and will always remember him with his laughter and enthusiasm, which were his trademarks.

A lifelong friend and buddy. Brian was a constant support to his friends and family. A lover of laughter, of being with his friends, so very social; loved his students, truly cared about people and their welfare. He was also very patriotic and loved American history. He so adored his family, his wonderful wonderful wife Lorraine and was also so very proud of his beautiful son, Trevor. He worked so hard, tried so hard in everything he did and accomplished. Most of all, he loved his family and was loved by so many. He will always stay in our hearts and minds. Big hugs to Lorraine and Trevor, always.
