Throughout my life I have been blessed with many good teachers. I will never forget Charles who I had the good fortune to study with at the Old Lyme Academy of Art: His joy was infectious and his strength certain. My condolences to his family.

He had boundless energy, an infectious laugh and genuine warmth that always made me happy when our paths crossed. His were the first perfectly steamed, bright green, al dente green beans I ever ate! He was a wonderfully colorful part of the Conn College campus and he will be missed.

Without a doubt, one of the most amazing people I have ever met in my life. He had a joy of life and an enthusiasm that were second to none. He will be greatly missed!!!

Dear Bettie and Family,
I will miss the shining eyes and good humor of one of my most favorite people on campus!
My original "Bok Choy" by Charles will retain its place of honor and always brings a smile to my face when I remember the fun we had with it.

Dearest Betty and Family, Charles will be missed by all. He made such an impact on my life and so many others. How blessed are we all to have even know him and had him in our lives. You are all in my heart today and forever. Much love to you all.

I did not take Dr. Chu's classes when I was a student at Conn, but got to know him later at reunions and receptions. He was an extraordinary man with warmth and caring as well as talent and humor.
He was inspirational.

I remember Charles showing me how to make beef wih mushrooms about 30 years ago. At the time I was utterly clueless, but he involved me in the process so thoroughly that I still know how to make that dish today. I will miss him. He was so inspiring in so many ways.
