Charles Sydney Rubinger

RUBINGER--Charles Sydney. Charles Sydney Rubinger passed peacefully in his New York City home on April 30th, just one month short of his 85th birthday. A quiet man, he was a proud graduate of Edgemont, the Deerfield Academy and Yale University and frequented its football games in New Haven as often as he could. He believed deeply in higher education and was a generous philanthropist, supporting various organizations from his past schools to medical research and was very involved with the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies. A former governor of the Harmonie Club, he remained in that capacity till illness prevented him from continuing to do so. He cut a handsome and well-dressed figure, that of a gentleman and a gentle man and everyone he met was immediately taken by the twinkle in his eyes, his warm voice and kind smile. Outside of his family, his greatest loves were his dogs, the Dodgers baseball team and the stock market. Starting at Wertheim & Company and staying on in all its incarnations, he remained a First Vice President Wealth Management, Portfolio Manager and Financial Adviser at Morgan Stanley until the day of his death. He took exceptional care of his clients, most of whom became his friends and were as loyal to him as he was to them. He is survived by his daughter Elizabeth Sebor, his grandchildren Tyler and Max Sheldon, his sister Lynn Samuel and his wife, Debbie Elbin. He will be greatly missed. Services are Friday, May 3, at 9:30am, at Temple Emanu-EL, Fifth Avenue at 65th Street, NYC.
