CHARLES STERN Obituary

STERN--Charles Baker, 44, died on December 10. A native New Yorker and NYU graduate, he was a composer and leader of NYC-based experimental rock bands Stern and Time of Orchids, a programmer at Manhattan Neighborhood Network, and a writer, scorer, and visual artist whose projects took him from ABC to HBO and seminal public access TV show Roboshithead. He leaves his beloved sister Katie Stern, brother-in-law Kyle Martin, and niece Daisy Martin.

I have a Time of Orchids CD in my car. I had no idea. I will blast it and plant some trees over here in Oregon for Chuck too. Or maybe a cactus and then poke my finger on it and say "oww!". Chuck was somehow a great friend and influence to me and used to communicate with me back in the MySpace days and sometimes later on Facebook. I don´t know what else to say other than that he created some beautiful, formative and even hilarious things, and I am very grateful he existed.
