CLARE THAW Obituary
The Board and Staff of The Glimmerglass Festival extend our deepest sympathies to Eugene Thaw at the passing of his beloved Clare. The Thaws were major forces in the creation of our festival since its beginning, and we will forever be grateful for their sponsorship of numerous productions and capital projects over 40 years. With Gene, Clare also generously gave the Cooperstown community and millions of tourists the pleasure of seeing the outstanding Eugene V. and Clare E. Thaw Collection of American Indian Art, housed at the Fenimore Art Museum. This spirit of exceptional generosity was extended to many other organizations here in Cooperstown, in New York City and across the country; we were fortunate to have been among the recipients and to have had Clare here with us. Her sense of humor, wit and love of life made being with her a joy. We will miss you, Clare.

Clare was such a bright and beautiful light in this world. Her compassion and heart were boundless, and she did so much to advance the cause of goodness. She and her vivacious spirit will be very missed. Love to her husband and family in this time of sadness.

I read about Clare. I did not know Clare, but as a lover of the arts, I wish to give my condolence to the family and send them comfort. May you draw closer to each other and to God to keep her cherish memories alive, as those who love the arts will.Psalm 121:7,8
