ZUBKOFF--Daniel, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and son, passed away peacefully at the age of 67, surrounded by his beloved family after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in Buffalo, NY, and grew up in Chevy Chase, MD. A gifted student, Dan graduated from Cornell University with honors such as Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa in 1979 and from Harvard Law School, Cum Laude, in 1982. Dan joined the law firm Cahill Gordon & Reindel LLP in 1982 and became a partner in 1990. Over his nearly four decades at the Firm, he served as a member of the Firm's Executive Committee for many years until his retirement in 2021. Instrumental in the development of the leveraged finance markets from their infancy to present day, Dan was consistently recognized as one of the top finance lawyers in the United States and globally. In leadership roles at Cahill, he helped steer the firm through many challenges and opportunities, leaving a lasting legacy as both a leader and mentor to dozens of successful lawyers over the years. Outside of his remarkable career, Dan had many interests and pastimes. He was a voracious reader, crossword puzzle solver, and Jeopardy expert, demonstrating his intellectual curiosity daily. Dan was also a true music enthusiast, enjoying genres ranging from jazz, electronic, to rock, and played the piano himself. His deep appreciation for traveling around the world with his family led him to experience diverse cultures, cuisines, and sights, from gorilla trekking in Uganda to walking on the Great Wall of China. Spending time at the family's weekend home in Katonah, NY, affectionately known as Pond House, was one of Dan's greatest joys. Dan loved grilling and cooking, and as a dedicated oenophile, he had a well-stocked wine room and enjoyed great wine with his family. Dan is survived by his beloved wife of forty-one years, Pauline, whom he met at Cornell; his three children, Emily and husband Mike, Ethan and wife Molly, and Suzie and fiance Liam; his cherished grandson, Miles; his mother Helene; his brother Jerry and wife Cindy; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Dan was predeceased by his father Maurice. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dan's name to the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research or to the
