Dave and I were classmates at NYU grad film school and worked together there and remained in touch. I miss his sharp wit and his kind heart. A warm, talented man is missed. - Owen

He was a terrific photographer. I had bought several of his prints maybe 15 or 20 years ago and we started talking.
I was supposed to meet up with him on a New York trip back then but it just never happened. My loss. Sweet dreams Dave.thank you for all of the art you leave behind.

Saddened to hear of David´s passing. I purchased over a dozen of his iconic NYC photographs for our Cornelia St apt in 2010. I followed him on FB and knew he had some health challenges. I now have his photographs adorning our CA home. Sending our condolences to Davids family. His work lives on.

Remembering Dave, one year on. I am doing a talk about photography of New York to my camera club in England and will mention Dave as my main influence. Photo from a walk in Central Park in 2009. He didn't normally bother with a tripod but brought it along in case I needed it!

Dave and I became acquainted in 2000 via his website. Then progressed to emails and phone calls talking about B&W photography. He was a generous man with his knowledge of photography he shared with me and to other photographers over the years. He had a great sense of humor, an awesome story teller, and long-distance friend. Even during his health ailments, he found humor, perseverence, and shared his candid stories of human interaction during his stay at the assisted health care facility. I miss him. He was a brilliant B&W NYC street photographer.

I knew David Beckerman through his beautiful website. We spoke on a number of occasions. I am a New Yorker now living in Pittsburgh and his
work brought back some wonderful memories. Fortunately I have a few of his prints which he autographed for me. I just found out about his passing this evening and I am deeply saddened.

I didn't know Mr Beckerman personally, but I bought several prints from him over the years and corresponded through email. He was very kind, helpful, and informative in all his writings, both personal and on his website. His ability to capture emotion and beauty with such nuance was incredible. I think his love toward the people and the city of New York show through clearly in his photography. I am very sad at his passing, but we will always have the images he made and presented to the world. I hope he found comfort and joy that his photographs will engage future generations and evoke memories of him and his time with us.

He was a very talented photographer, documenting the familiar and unexpected beauty of New York City... mostly in Black & White which was most fitting for his hometown.
