CLURMAN--David. David Clurman led three distinguished careers: Public Servant, Private Attorney, and Author. As an Assistant New York Attorney General, Mr. Clurman led the Bureau of Securities and Public Financing, in which he supervised condominium and cooperative offerings. He directed major prosecutions into fraudulent conduct, including a series of prosecutions that led to the enactment of the New York Theatrical Financing Act, which introduced to the Broadway Theater the requirement of full financial disclosure. Mr. Clurman's accomplishments were profiled in The New York Times as "Man in the News" on January 17, 1964: "Man in the News; Investigator of Theater"

Mr. Clurman authored numerous laws governing real estate, including the New York Real Estate Syndication Act, the New York Condominium and Cooperative regulations, the New York Securities Broker-Dealer laws, the New York Investment Adviser Act, and the New York Business Condominium Act. Mr. Clurman authored numerous important legal treatises. He was principal author of the modern versions of New York Securities Regulation. His most widely sold text was "Condominiums and Cooperatives" for John Wiley and Sons, the first general book on the subject which resulted in sales of 25,000 copies and a selection by The Fortune Book Club. A later book he wrote, "The Business Condominium," was a main selection of the Investors Book Club. David Clurman also served as a series editor for John Wiley for several years. In addition, later in life Mr. Clurman wrote and published a fiction novel called "The Paralegal" that was loosely based on events encountered during his time as Assistant New York Attorney General. Mr. Clurman was born in Jersey City, NJ on May 3, 1927 and grew up in Brooklyn. After serving his country in World War II in the Navy and in the Pacific, Mr. Clurman graduated from New York University and Columbia Law School. He passed away on September 2, 2022 at home in Manhattan, NY. He was 95 years old. David is survived by his loving wife Lynn of 40 years, sons Matthieu and Benjamin (daughter-in-law Laura), daughters Nancy and Heidi, and grandchildren Jacqueline, Brady and Zachary.
