DAVID EDELSTEIN Obituary

EDELSTEIN--David J., MD. The warmest smile. The darkest wit. We mourn the loss of this pillar in the lives of so many. If humor was his calling card, genuine love and care were his trademark, and you could not leave his presence without a laugh and a smile, the memories of which will now have to serve as comfort. Endlessly loving husband to Debbie and father to Alex, Spencer and Dani; protective and embracing brother to Rob (Loren); loving son to late parents Stanley and Laura; favorite (in his own words) uncle to Rachel (Billy), Nellie and Jake; rock of a friend/eating partner/kibitzer to many from Great Neck, Westhampton and the world over. A much-too-brief life begun February 19, 1957 in the Bronx, then to Woodmere, Hewlett High School, SUNY Stony Brook, NYU Medical School and a thriving ophthalmology practice alongside Debbie in Brooklyn, and a loving home in Great Neck, where he passed on October 26, 2022. Pancreatic cancer is cruel, but his last year was filled with joys, wonders, support and love. The Rams won the Super Bowl specifically to make him happy. You had to leave us, we know; but we will never leave you. The family requests donations to lustgarten.org.
