I met David when my next door neighbor introduced us. I was 16. He had a living room full of filing cabinets of the research he did over ten years, preparing to publish BEST EVIDENCE. He was in and out of my life for over 30 years. He gave me a copy of his book with a a personal message. Once, when I was in San Francisco, at a League of Cities meeting, he asked me if we could meet and he wanted to sleep in my room. I told him he´d have to sleep in the floor and he did.

O worked with David in the late 1990s transcribing interview tapes from witnesses to the JFK assassination. It was for his book Final Charade about Lee Harvey Oswald. I also did research. He was a brilliant and interesting man. It was an honor to work with him. I just learned of his passing. A true loss.

I had occasion to talk to Mr. Lifton during a short phone conversation in 1992 when he attended a conference in Dallas.
I asked him about another author's flawed and badly written book that dealt with the same subject matter as his own 'Best Evidence', and I still remember his reply: "How a person writes is often a good indication of how they think."
Needless to say, Mr. Lifton's writing was razor sharp. He is missed by many.
Condolences to his family and close friends.

I was close to David starting in the mid-1980s. I had been a close friend to Marguerite Oswald as well from the early 1970s. I last spoke with David shortly before he passed away. He had asked me if I could store all his Kennedy files. However, I had moved and did not have the room any longer. If anyone knows how to reach his family, please have them email me at: [email protected]. Thank you.

My name is Andre Hayes. I am career History Teacher for LAUSD. I do a three week lesson each year on the JFK conspiracy. When I was at Chatsworth H.S. I reached out to David to come to speak to my kids, but he could not do it because we could not afford his rate. However, in one of the kindest acts I have ever witnessed, he offered to take 15 of my top students to dinner at Hamburger Hamlet in Brentwood to talke about Best Evidence and his next book on Oswald. We got there at 6pm and he mesmerized us for 4 hours. He was a class act, and inspired me to dig deeper and garner more facts about the assassination conspiracy. I flat out love the man. David was a long-time friend who stayed at my home on two occasions. It was my privilege to know David who shared much of his research with me as he made new discoveries about the JFK assassination. A very fine mind whose unique gifts have had a great impact on JFK research.

I first became aware of Mr. Lifton´s book Best Evidence in 83 when my 12th grade criminal justice teacher engaged us with it. We studied it for a two week period which intrigued me for sure that I immediately purchased it, read it and will once again. No book does the crime of the century more justice!! I will have to read his follow up as well Final Charade.. Thanks for your tireless efforts throughout..Rest in peace

I was just informed of David's passing and sad to hear the news. David had an office with us for many years here in West LA. He was a character for sure and well liked by many of his fellow tenants here in West LA. He will be missed. Our condolences to the family

Condolences to David´s family and associates. I was saddened to read of David´s passing in early December. Best Evidence was a seminal work in the study of the JFK assassination and launched many on their own journeys of discovery. I was fortunate enough to participate in several on-line conversations with David and he was always very patient when talking with the next generation of researchers. He will be greatly missed.

I had a few contacts with DSL. He was always guiding and patient to those of us willing to learn and debate with an open mind and beyond preconceptions. His works are a great legacy, and I hope Final Charade will be published with an editor of high caliber.

David Lifton was a brilliant human who had dedicated himself to resolving one of the most challenging American historical issues in our time. His novel approach to research and analysis is unparalleled and will certainly become more evident as time proceeds.
All we can hope for is that his memory will continue to be a blessing for all of his friends and loved ones.
