SCHAEFER--David. Our beloved David died in the early morning hours of October 25 surrounded by love and joy. He peacefully slipped away at home, encircled by close friends and facing his beautiful garden and trees. David was a gifted artist, designer, gardener, architect and ceramicist. He created countless beautiful things and was loved deeply by his friends and family. His successful career included design work for Esprit in San Fransisco, Chief of Design for J.Crew stores and Senior VP of Waterworks. FURNITURE CO, David's own design firm on Jane street, was filled with David's perfect furnishings and offered design services for private clients. FURNITURE CO also included carefully curated items from some of the greatest designers of the last 100 years. David designed many homes, some for close friends and some for clients. Those who are privileged enough to live in one of his joyful spaces could not be more grateful. David is survived by his family of friends and members of his Wisconsin family: Tom and Vicki Schaefer, their daughter Hillary and Carol Schaefer his stepmother. David lost his beloved father Douglas Schaefer in 2024 and his mother Patricia in 2018. A memorial will be planned in NYC and the day will be made known.
