DEAN SWENSON, 61
Dean Erik Swenson, 61, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Bellevue Hospital, New York, NY. He was born on January 17, 1953 in Brooklyn, New York to S. Arthur and Anna Keith-Swenson.
Dean grew up in Glen Head, Long Island, New York. He graduated from North Shore High School in Glen Head in 1971. Dean was an accomplished musician who worked in many areas of the music business. He attended Berklee College of Music, Boston, MA and maintained a disciplined practice of music. His professional credits include: Road Company - Jesus Christ Superstar; arrangements and cast member in Joseph Papp's I Am Getting My Act Together and Taking it on the Road; and guitar and arrangement on Kurtis Blow's Star Life. He performed with various orchestras throughout his career, among them Steven Scott and Lester Lanin. He was a lifetime member of Associated Musicians of Greater New York, local 802.
He enjoyed watching sports and spending time with his family.
Dean was preceded in death by his father S. Arthur.
Dean is survived by his life partner, Blanca Parajon, of Brooklyn, NY; his mother Anna Keith-Swenson of Glen Head, NY; his son Lorin Swenson of Rochelle Park, NJ; his son Samuel Kessler Swenson of New York, NY; his brother Bruce Swenson of Glen Head, NY; his sister Lynn (John) Kelly of Brisbane, Australia; his sister Gail (Steven) Ordun of Vienna, VA; his sister Liv (Robert) Clasen of Silver Spring, MD; and his loving nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives.
A memorial service will be held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 16 Glenwood Road, Glen Head, NY 11545 at 10:00 am on April 11, 2015.

So sorry to hear about Dean. He and I played together in the early 1980's. I know he had his personal struggles then and hope his passing was peaceful. He was a great guitar player and I liked him
