DONALD KREINDLER Obituary

KREINDLER--Donald L., born January 28, 1931, to Murray and Ruby Kreindler of Brooklyn, New York, died peacefully at home in Florida on October 30, 2024, and our hearts will never be the same. Donald received a B.A. from Brooklyn College and later earned his J.D. in two years from Columbia Law School. A meeting with a law professor led him to employment at Otterbourg, Steindler, Houston & Rosen thus launching his stellar legal career. Donald co-founded Kreindler, Relkin, Olick & Goldberg (later Kreindler & Relkin) and enjoyed success there for almost 30 years before becoming a partner at Phillips Nizer LLP. He was highly respected and revered within his specialization; among his clients were Oleg Cassini, Burlington Industries, J.P. Stevens, Springs Mills, Dan River, and Revman. Donald was a strikingly elegant man whose patience, dignity, and grace were unprecedented - to know him was to adore him and he was beloved by friends and colleagues alike. Happiest when active, he enjoyed tennis, golf, skiing, biking, and bridge into his final years, especially when summering in Bridgehampton, Long Island. He was a voracious reader, history buff, and born-and-bred consummate New Yorker in addition to being a connoisseur of world travel, baseball (Let's Go, Mets!), chocolate (Asher's), and fine wine. But above all else, he was devoted to his entire family. Donald was predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Ellen Cohen, and his brother, Robert. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Opas; his children, Dorian Kreindler and David Kreindler; stepchildren, Ilyse Opas Cross (Joshua), John Cohen (Sally), Carlen Lesser (Guy), Russell Cohen (Courtney); nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren - all of whom brought him great happiness and joy. His loving nature and sense of decency will never be forgotten. A Zoom Celebration of Life will be held December 4, 2024 at 1:30pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Temple Emanu-El of New York City or to the Mt. Sinai Fuster Heart Hospital, 1 Gustave Levy Place, Box 1030, NY, NY 10029-6574.
