DOUGLAS MARCUS Obituary

MARCUS--Douglas Alan, M.D. 77, passed into the other world on November 20, 2024 at home in Great Neck, NY. Born to Bernard and Sylvia Marcus, he grew up in Somerville, NJ with his brothers Ronnie and Randy and sister Joan. In high school, Doug excelled at tennis, piano and saxophone. Doug studied chemistry at Cornell, medicine at Northwestern and specialized in child and adolescent psychiatry. He was unit chief of child and adolescent services at Kings County Hospital and supervised fellows at Northwell. Doug's dedication, compassion, humor, curiosity, and his kind helpful staff, contributed to his long fulfilling career. Doug loved running in sandals in midday July, reading, skiing, dancing, singing and traveling. His smile sparkled and his laugh delighted. Doug is grieved by his wife of 54 years, Judith, his children, Joshua (Alethea) and Rebecca (Casey), three grandchildren, two brothers, seven nieces and nephews, and a multitude of family and friends.
