EDWARD DUNHAM Obituary
M.D., on September 19, 2016 in Saratoga Springs, NY. Beloved husband of 59 years to the late Rosalie McManus Dunham. Cherished father of seven, who knew him as a paragon of independent thinking and are forever grateful for his love, integrity, and guidance: Constance Dunham, Frances Dunham, Thomas Dunham, Maria Richards, Edward Dunham, Jr., Timothy Dunham (Colette), and Anne Dieffenbach (John). Also survived by 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Devoted son of the late Cornelius Thomas and Margaret Traylor Dunham, and loving brother of the late Margaret D. Griggs and Thomas B. Dunham. Born December 28, 1923 in Atlanta, GA and raised in Miami Beach, FL. Delighted in summers spent with family at St. Huberts, NY. Graduated from The Hill School, PA (1942). Enlisted in the Navy during World War II and served in the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign. Awarded the Purple Heart medal. Graduated from Yale College (1948; class of 1945W) and from New York Medical College (1952). Conducted medical research in cell physiology at Brookhaven National Laboratory, National Institutes of Health, University of Cambridge Physiological Laboratory, and Albert Einstein College of Medicine, as well as independent research in physics and mathematics. Resided in Greenwich, NY; formerly of Stony Brook, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on September 24 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Greenwich, NY, followed by interment at Greenwich Cemetery.

Connie, Frannie, Tommy, Maria, Ed, Tim, and Anne and your families the Boston Dunham Branch send our sympathy and love on loss of your special Dad this past week. We also remember your lovely mother Rosalie and grandparents. Uncle Tom made me into a pretty good lawn bowler when I was only 13. WE hope to see you again We had a special visit with some of you and your Dad two or three years ago. LV dunny nelie and our children henry and Melanie.
