EDWARD SCHIFF Obituary

SCHIFF--Edward L. Edward L. Schiff, an eminent authority in real estate law, a cherished family head; and an avid appreciator of opera, theatre, and classical music, died at age 96. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Betsy Pinover Schiff; three sons: David, Paul and Richard their respective wives: Assia, Caryn and Sheila; and eight adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Kaylie, Mickey, Henry, Gus, Elliot, Ruby, Edie, and Luca. He leaves behind a brother, Norman; and brother-in-law Jim Lawrence. His marriage to Charlotte Schiff Booker ended in divorce. Ed was a born and raised in Brooklyn, where he attended Brooklyn Tech High School. He graduated City College of New York Summa Cum Laude, obtained his graduate and post graduate law degrees at Brooklyn Law School, and spent three years as a legal and gunnery officer in the Navy. He retired from the law in 2022 at age 93. He will be remembered for his intellect, kind and respectful manner, his wit and warmth, as well as his embracing relationship to family and friends. Donations in his honor may be made to WNET/13, or The Riverside Symphony.
