BRONSTEIN--Eileen. Eileen Bronstein passed away peacefully on Monday at age 91. For sixty-nine years, she was married to Albert who passed away last November. Together, they raised three daughters, Joanne, Caryn, and Rachelle. Her commitment to them and to their husbands, Scott, Barry, and David knew no bounds. She was a doting grandmother to her grandchildren Max, Jamie, Leigh, Melissa, Daniel, Lauren and Adam and their spouses. She treasured and delighted in her eight great-grand-children, Ava, Jack and Ruby, Ethan and Harper, and Joseph, Grace, and Ari. Eileen was a formidable woman. The youngest of three, with two strong-willed older brothers, Arthur and Gilbert, she was determined to carve out her own place in the world. And she did. Eileen had a fierce intelligence. Shrewd and sharp, she saw around corners and noticed things that others did not. Most importantly, she found goodness and promise in Albert. Their marriage and their partnership was a triumph. Together, they built a real estate business first with her brothers and then just the two of them. She was the motive force in the partnership. She had an indomitable will to succeed and to improve. For most of her life, she did the New York Times Crossword each day, including Saturdays. She carried around collections of puzzle books and sharpened pencils such that no moment would be idly wasted. It was not just mental gymnastics that occupied her. She was a competitive athlete, first on the tennis courts -- a frequent club champion -- and then later, a golfer. Until her late eighties, she could be found walking the golf course -- preferably with at least one of her grandkids. Eileen and Albert were inseparable. She would go nowhere without him. He nowhere without her. Arm in arm, with little to start, they built a business and a family. All of us touched by their love and generosity will miss them greatly, but know they could only be apart for so long. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to support the Arthur Ancowitz Lecture Fund in Neurology at NYU Langone Health. Dr. Ancowitz was Eileen's brother.
