ELIZABETH ACERRA Obituary
(nee Savino) on August 15, 2016. Elizabeth was the beloved wife of Louis Acerra, devoted sister of Nancy Marie Toto, Donald Savino and sister-in-law of Elizabeth Acerra. She was a dearly loved cousin and aunt of her many Savino, Toto and Acerra nieces and nephews. Upon graduating from St. Joseph College for Women, Elizabeth began her long career as a dedicated educator in the New York City school system as teacher, guidance councilor and assistant principal of guidance schools in Brooklyn and the Bronx. She served as director of guidance in Manhattan at the Board of Education. Elizabeth was appointed principal of Richmond Hill High School in 1985. She and her husband, the former principal of John Adams High School, retired in 1991. In addition to her husband of 59 years and her family, the great joys of her life were her love of books and her world-wide travels. Elizabeth will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A funeral service and interment will take place on Thursday at St. Michaels Cemetery, 72-02 Astoria Blvd., East Elmhurst, NY at 12:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Curehht.org. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

I am sorry to learn of Elizabeth accereas passing. I remember if her being the principal of Richmond hill hs. Her husband Louis accerra was a biology teacher at Richmond hill hs then became a principal at John Adams hs. I was graduated from Richmond hill hs in 1961. May Elizabeth rest in peace. Let's hope and pray for happier occasions. Take care and regards to rest of the family.

Louis, Nancy Marie, Donnie and Family,
I am so sorry to hear of Betty's passing. I did not hear of it until today (12/19/16) and wish we all kept in touch. Betty was my first cousin and a cousin to be proud of. In her darkest moments she was strong and curious. An example to all who knew her. She loved her family unconditionally. We could all feel that love. Together Betty and Louie never missed a family celebration. We always knew they would come. They made our celebrations complete. My heart now goes out to Louie, a piece of him is gone but her memories will live on and on...

Betty was a friend and colleague. Most of all she was an extraordinary partner to Lou -- his other half in every way. The world will miss wonderful, classy Betty. Lou, I know your heart is broken. I always told others that Betty and Lou were the definition of "happily married." How lucky they were.
