ELIZABETH BARTLETT Obituary

BARTLETT--Elizabeth E.

"Betsy". April 1, 1937 February 14, 2015 of New York City and Weston, CT, died peacefully at her home, surrounded by family. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Col. Walter J. Easton and Elizabeth Scott Easton. She graduated from Hathaway Brown School and attended Skidmore College. Betsy made a career as a Lady Arrow model and an interior decorator. Betsy was passionately involved in the community, and took great pride in her work. She was a long-time senior director at both St. Barnabas Hospital and New York Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NYSPCC). More than anything, she was a devoted friend and family person. She was pre-deceased by former husband Peter Barry Bartlett (1934-2012). She is survived by her partner of 25 years, A. Jones Yorke, her sister and brother- in-law Virginia and Ralph Joslin, her children Kimberley Kernan of Rowayton, CT, Christopher Bartlett of Baltimore, MD, Kate Lieder of Ridgefield, CT, and adopted son Ian Duvenhage of Nashville, Tennessee. She cherished her six grandchildren Peter and Avery Kernan, Elizabeth and Nicholas Bartlett, and Christopher and Carly Lieder. Arrangements for a memorial service at St. James Episcopal Church in New York City are pending. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to either NYSPCC or St. Barnabas Hospital.

Betsy's tenure on the Board of the NYSPCC was of inestimable benefit to the Society, its staff and the children and families of New York. How fitting that a person of such deep compassion and generosity of spirit be called home to God on St. Valentine's Day. Heartfelt condolences to Jones and Betsy's family.
