Elizabeth Kramer Obituary

1972 - 2016
Elizabeth (Lisa) Jane Kramer passed away at home in New York on December 8th, 2016 due to a brain tumor. She was 44.

Lisa was born in Nashua, NH to Carol and Kirby Kramer. She grew up in Nashua and in Falmouth, Maine, where she went to Falmouth High School.

Lisa was beloved for her sharp wit, keen judgment, and fierce loyalty. She had dear friends from every period in her life. Above all, Lisa was a doting mother and loving wife, as well as a devoted daughter, sister, and aunt. She also enjoyed chocolate, traveling, reading, and musical theater.

She graduated from Yale College, cum laude and with honors in English, and from NYU School of Law, magna cum laude. She served as Managing Editor of the NYU Law Review. Later she was a judicial law clerk for the Hon. John Koeltl of the Southern District of New York and the Hon. Michael Boudin of the First Circuit Court of Appeals.

After a brief period in private practice, Lisa spent the rest of her career in the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York, fulfilling her lifelong dream of becoming a federal prosecutor. She tried cases and argued appeals as an Assistant US Attorney, serving in many supervisory roles and lastly as Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division. Lisa also taught legal writing at Brooklyn Law School and served as an adjunct clinical law professor at NYU.

In addition to her father, Lisa is survived by her husband of 17 years, Eric Chun, their daughters, Madeline and Zoe, her brother and sister-in-law, Zachary and Jenny Blaise Kramer, and their daughters, Stella, Julia and Eloise, and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Stephanie Chun and Tim Kau.

The family will hold a private interment service. A public memorial service is being arranged for a later date.

In lieu of flowers, Lisa's family respectfully suggests that donations in her honor be made to Gilda's Club NYC (www.gildasclubnyc.org).
