ERIC BADER Obituary
BADER--Eric Jason, a dazzling artist and varsity athlete who later competed in several triathlons after finishing at the top of his MBA class, passed away on June 25, 2023 in Southampton, New York. A devoted father, husband, son and brother, he was 43. Eric was born to Meryl and Lew Bader on March 10, 1980 in New Hyde Park, New York. He was a Renaissance man, accomplished in the arts, athletics and finance. But his fiercest love, and truest dedication, was to his adoring family. A standout athlete from an early age, Eric pursued his love of basketball, golf and soccer during his time at Plainview Old Bethpage John F Kennedy High School. After graduating in 1998, he went on to George Washington University, in Washington, D.C., where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts and began his career as a painter, channeling the spirit of the Dutch Masters and Italian Renaissance artists in his work. In 2009, he shifted his professional focus to finance and was accepted into the Baruch College Zicklin School of Business Honors program for the Master of Business Administration in Finance and Administration. After completing a sterling academic career, he joined Rosenthal & Rosenthal Inc. In 2015, Eric earned his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. As his new career took off, Eric sought out new challenges. He began training for triathlons in 2015, ultimately competing in several competitions, including four Ironman races, always placing in the top ten for his age group. In more recent years, Eric found new joy in teaching and playing sports with his children. Jordan competes with the same intensity as his father, with whom he enjoyed watching the New York Mets, Knicks and Giants, and riding shotgun in Eric's classic Porsche 911. Together, Jordan and Ashton enjoyed nightly training sessions with their dad in the basement of their home and out back on the basketball court that he had built. Eric is survived by his wife, Lisa Rosenthal Bader, his children Jordan Ryan Bader and Ashton Rose Bader, his parents Meryl and Lew, his brother Scott Bader, sister Jill Vacker, her husband Jason Vacker and their children, Dylan and Leo, his father and mother-in-law Eric and Sue Rosenthal and his sister-in- law and her husband, Karen and Eric Vorschirm. Lisa and Eric met in their freshman year of college and began dating in their senior year when their shared love of art, sports and travel brought them closer together. They married in 2009. Eric proudly supported many organizations that provide mentorship and opportunities for underserved youth. His loss has broken the hearts of his family and friends. His memory is a blessing that gives them strength.
