Erica Jesselson Obituary

JESSELSON--Erica. The officers, Board of Directors, and staff of UJA-Federation of New York mourn with profound sadness the passing of Erica Jesselson. Erica and her late husband, Ludwig, were giants of Jewish philanthropy, providing strong leadership and role models to respond to the needs of Jewish communities in New York, in Israel, and throughout the world. Erica was a builder of Israel, a passionate advocate of strengthening Jewish education, and a patron of the Jewish arts and Judaica. The Jesselsons each escaped Europe during World War II and never forgot their fellow Jews and the less fortunate. For decades, members of the Jesselson family have been dedicated supporters and active volunteers for UJA-Federation. Continuing the values of his parents, the Jesselsons' son Michael serves on our Board of Directors and is chair of Planned Giving & Endowments. We extend our deepest sympathies to Erica's sons, Michael and his wife, Linda; Daniel and his wife, Yael; and Benjamin and his wife, Phyllis; to Erica's many grandchildren; and to the entire Jesselson family. John M. Shapiro, President Jerry W. Levin, Chair of the Board John S. Ruskay, Exec. VP & CEO
