Estee Lauder Obituary

LAUDER Estee. The Trustees and staff of The Museum of Modern Art mourn the loss of Estee Lauder, mother of the Chairman of our Board, Ronald and mother-in-law of the President of our International Council, Jo Carole. Estee was a visionary pioneer, a generous benefactor, a gracious hostess, and a beautiful presence throughout New York City and the world. Although she can never be replaced, we are glad that her legacy lives on so wonderfully through her two sons, Leonard and Ronald; her daughters-in-law, Evelyn and Jo Carole; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We extend our deepest sympathies to them all. David Rockefeller, Chairman Emeritus Agnes Gund, President Emerita Robert B. Menschel, President Glenn D. Lowry, Director The Museum of Modern Art, NY

I stood behind the Estee Lauder Counter as both a Beauty Advisor and Counter Manager for many years and enjoyed every minute of it. As her grand-daughter Aerin Lauder has said, "I thought she would live forever." I smile thinking she is in heaven introducing the angels to the sweet smell of Youth Dew.

During my police career in Palm Beach, I had the pleasure to be involved with the parties at her home and will always remember myself and co-workers smiling as the employees would spray case upon case of the perfumes in the hedges and surrounding areas >> that will be missed as a bygone era.

I had the opportunity to meet Estee Lauder several years ago at a social at her home in Palm Beach. She was truly a lady. Elegance and kindness were her brand of hospitality. She is remembered with fondness. May she have peaceful rest and know the glory of the promised life. Truly, her passing is a loss.

To the family of Estee Lauder

It really saddened my heart to read of the passing of Estee.I never met or knew her but she truely knew me in that all of her aromas I have tried and love them,as long as they will be made and sold I will continue to do so.when I first started wearing it the price was $5.50 and I am now payingas much as $32.50 for the same size containers.

may you all continue to be blessed.

With fondness, I send my respects to the Lauder family.

When I was a young teenager, I would love to go in my parents' room and smell the perfume my Dad gave my Mom - Youth Dew.

I have always loved this fragrance. I would even apply it directly after gym class - and always had the other girls asking for some!

God bless your family.

To the Lauder Family --

"...well done thy good and faithful servant..."

Having worked many years with Revlon in the same building as Lauder, it was envitable that -- while rivals -- we would embrace, admire, and respect each other.

The cosmetic industry has truly lost a friend.

Respectfully,

Do not stand at my grave and weep: I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow: I am the diamond glints of snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain: I am the gentle autumn's rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft star that shines at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there: I did not die.

MY CONDONLENCES TO THE ESTEE LAUDER FAMILY FOR YOUR BIG LOST GOD BLESS YOU. YOU WILL BE IN OUR PRAYERS.

GOD BLESS THE QUEEN ESTEE LAUDER HER LIGHT WILL BRITE FOREVER.

I thought I saw your face today,

in the sparkle of the morning sun.

And then I heard the angel say,

"Their work on earth is done."

I thought I heard your voice today,

then laugh your hearty laugh.

And then I heard the angel say,

"There's peace dear one at last."

I thought I felt your touch today,

in the breeze that rustled by.

And then I heard the angel say,

"The spirit never dies."

I thought I saw my broken heart,

in the crescent of the moon.

And then I heard the angel say,

"The Lord is coming soon."

I thought that you had left me,

for the stars so far above.

And then I heard the angel say,

"They left you with their love."

I thought that I would miss you so,

and never find my way.

And then I heard the angel say,

"They're with you every day."

"The sun, the wind, the moon, the stars,

will forever be around,

reminding you of the love you shared,

and the peace they've finally found."

In explaining her success, the cosmetics queen once said: ``I have never worked a day in my life without selling. If I believe in something, I sell it, and I sell it hard.''

And sell it you did! May you rest in peace and your family find comfort.
