Eugene Williams Obituary

Williams, Eugene F. III

Saint David's School, NYC, mourns the passing of former Board of Trustees President Eugene (Gene) F. Williams III, who died on December 13, 2020. Gene was a parent of three Saint David's alumni, Eugene IV '00, Henry '03 and Philip '04, and a member of the board from 1994 until his retirement in 2009.

Prior to serving as Board President from 2004 through 2009, Gene served as Chair of the Education Committee, Vice President of the Executive Committee and chaired the Search Committee that appointed the school's fifth headmaster in 2004. Gene's efforts were always focused on what was best for the school and the Saint David's community.

A true gentleman in every sense, Gene brought his passion, expertise and dedication to all he did for the school, including helping conceptualize our greatest physical expansion. Through his work, Gene represented all the qualities of a consummate steward of the school and the many other institutions with which he was involved; he made an impact on the lives of many. We are deeply grateful for his wisdom, wit, and famous lightning-quick meetings.

The thoughts and prayers of the headmaster, faculty, staff, and boys of Saint David's remain with Gene's wife, Jackie, his sons Gene, Harry, and Philip, and his extended family.

May he rest in peace. Ut viri boni sint.

I've known Gene since 1995, when I joined him and his father on the Pitchfork Land and Cattle Company Board. I consider it an honor to have known him and to have been a friend for all of these years, as he was one of the nicest people anyone could ever meet. He made me feel very welcome and appreciated at the start, as did the entire Williams family. To Jackie, Gene, Harry and Philip, my sincerest condolences on your loss. He will be greatly missed.
