de CALLEJON--Felipe Propper. On Wednesday, September 11, 2024, Felipe Propper de Callejon passed away peacefully in his 93rd year. Survived by Renata, (nee Goldschmidt) his loving wife for 65 years, his son Philip and his wife Grace Byers, his daughter Diana and her spouse Antonia Bowring, as well as his five grandchildren Jennifer, Katherine, Jimmy, Luca and Alessandro, mourn his passing, as does his sister Elena Bonham Carter and her London based family. All will mourn his absence but will cherish the many memories of his loving presence. He was the son of Eduardo Propper de Callejon, a noted Spanish diplomat, and Helene Fould Springer of Paris and "Royaumont," his beloved family homestead. After spending most of his youth in France, he came to America in 1949. He went two years to Georgetown University and subsequently got his MBA from Harvard in 1953. Upon graduation he joined the Todd AO Corporation, a company instrumental in bringing new imaging and sound recording techniques to Hollywood. In 1959 he joined the investment banking firm of Loeb, Rhoades where he spent 20 years initially as a security analyst and subsequently as a broker-money manager and became a partner in 1968 He made his only Wall Street career change in 1978, when he joined Wertheim and Co and remained with the firm's eight successor companies until, the last one was acquired by Morgan Stanley in 2013, from whose Wealth Management Division, he retired in 2016. For enjoyment, he loved to hike in the Austrian scenery and journey to far away exotic places with his wife. He was a former President of the Spanish Institute, and the Spain-US Chamber of Commerce and was a member of The Metropolitan Museum Business Committee, a Director of the George Washington Institute for Religious Freedom and a Trustee of the Boston World War II Museum. He became a US citizen in 1994 upon having developed a passion for early American History while remaining loyal to his native Spain. He prided himself for being a keen observer of his time and for over 35 years kept a daily diary. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, September 21st at 11:00am at St. Ignatius Loyola R.C.
