FRANK BLAICHMAN

BLAICHMAN-- Frank. The Jewish Partisan Educational Foundation (JPEF) deeply mourns the passing of Jewish partisan Frank Blaichman (z''l). As a young platoon commander, Frank's leadership helped save hundreds of Jewish lives in the surrounding forests of Lublin. His group dynamited bridges and railroad tracks, made hit- and-run attacks on German supply and troop trains, ambushed enemy trucks, and bombed German headquarters in his area. Frank married his fellow partisan Cesia Pomeranc (z''l) and later settled in New York, where they had two children and six grandchildren. Frank delivered the founding address at the unveiling of the Jewish Fighters Monument at Yad Vashem in 1985. He was among the first Jewish partisans to share his testimony with JPEF in 2001, and was instrumental in the growth of the organization. He shares various facets of his experiences in seven of JPEF's films and is the subject of an educational study guide. In 2009, Arcade Publishing released his riveting memoir, "Rather Die Fighting."
