Frank was a friend and colleague, We worked together on a paper that was widely cited and of which Frank was very proud. I was fortunate to be of assistance in that project. Frank was a good man who is sorely missed.

I think of you often. With every dance event invitation from ECDW, the little brass bell, and when i drive through your neighborhood. I miss our conversations and your positive, intelligent, considerate, and often delighted presence. Rest in peace.

Mr. Stern... although it has been a few years since you left us we think of you often. With each gentle wind that blows our wind chime reminds us of you. You will be happy to know that your home is full of life with a wonderful family creating memories as you once did with yours.

Thank you, Frank, for being kind and a good example of active living. I knew Frank as a dancing friend in the New York Country Dance community in which he was a regular attendee. Sending love to him, his family and friends.

Frank Stern was one of the warmest, kind, loving, and dedicated friend and example one could have had in one's formative years. I looked up to his example in what one would do as I worked my way through life in my twenties, thirties and forties.
Frank: You live in guiding and loving memories. Your smile will always be vivid with me together with the understated gem insights.

Frank Stern was a true gentleman and great physicist who touched my life in many ways. He was my mentor at iBM in 1987 and 1988, though we continued collaborating and met up later in Germany and in Paris. He instilled in me the meaning of kindness and respect for others. I've kept up with him all these years and was very saddened to learn of his passing.

I drove by this past Sunday to check on him call he has been on my mind for weeks...and much to my dismay I learned of Frank´s passing. I was so very fortunate to meet Frank through the Clinton street senior programs....he was my student, I used to tell him he was my sunshine...bc he always laughed at my jokes no matter how bad they were...he would always show up with his 5lb weights ready to work....he was a very important part of our group and we were all dismayed when he stopped coming ...every week everyone would ask...where is Frank? My biggest regret is that I never got to see him dance...rest in peace my friend...may the music continue to play and May there be a huge dance floor for you to keep dancing.

Having just come home from a stint in a rehab center, I am just Learning of Frank's passing now. He was a very good, interesting, and interested, friend. I was often amazed how easily He reached out to make new friends, myself included, at Scottish dancing and elsewhere. I shall miss him.

Frank and I for many years were colleagues at IBM Research. In the early years we worked closely together on a well-received theoretical physics paper. We have remained friends ever since. Frank was a kind and generous person as well as a talented physicist. Those who knew him, including my wife and me, will l mess him greatly. It is another tragedy of the pandemic that we have not been able to maintain our social contacts.

I knew Frank as a colleague of my father's at IBM, as a Scottish Country Dancer and as a friend. He was always a joy to be around and he will be missed. His many kindnesses to my parents, my daughter, and myself are lovely memories. May his memory be for a blessing.

We are truly so sad on the passing of Mr. Stern. He was the last of the original home owners in our neighborhood. Our family has been neighbors with Mr. Stern for the past 16 years and he has watched our children grow, giving them their first "job" of tending to his bird feeder and checking on his mail. It was always so inspiring to see his determination of staying healthy and independent, seeing him on his daily walks and completing jobs around his home. He recently painted his mailbox and took pride in his home. Mr. Stern was always thoughtful and kind inquiring about how our children where doing at school and with their individual sports. We are so happy to have known him and will miss him so very much. Robbins Road will not be the same without you Mr. Stern. Love Corinne, Lenny, Len, Bianca and Michael.

Frank was a pillar on our journey. We would be with him three or four times a year at dance events or Pinewoods Camp, and he was invariably gracious, anxious to hear our news, amazing at remembering the last news from our kids and anxious for updates, He was a wealth of knowledge about all sorts of things, but it was difficult to get him to talk about himself. "Oh, I´m alright." We will miss him greatly, but are so glad to have spent a week at camp with him this past summer. RIP Frank.

Frank was the most 'people person' one could ever meet. He traveled far and wide to see his many friends, even when he could no longer dance. He would talk about people always with interest in their wellbeing.
He was generous and gracious to all and I shall miss him.

What a lovely, special, and interesting man. Frank always made sure to greet and dance with his friends, of which he had many. We were both Scottish and English dancers and it was a joy to meet him on the many dance floors of the east coast. I will miss him.

Sharing physics as a field we always had much to talk about. His sparkling eyes and candid sense of humor were hallmarks of his gentle persona. Ever ready to extend a dancing hand to all.
Will miss you Frank. Linger long in our hearts. I agree we should write a dabble and tune called Frank´s Planxty Constant.

Frank was one of the nicest people I had ever met. He was wonderful to talk to, and I loved dancing with him. I am so sad to hear this.

Frank was an avid dancer when I started attending events at Duane Church in the mid-90s. Once I left NYC we danced together at Pinewoods where he could be counted on to serve cheesy eggs on many a groggy morning. But I got to know him better, and much more recently, at Mrs. London's, his favorite oasis during the Dance Flurry in Saratoga Springs. There we enjoyed tea and coffee, soups and sandwiches, and often shared a pastry for dessert. I learned of his arrival in the US as a very young boy, his father's work as a furrier, and his own career as physicist. He shared stories of finding dance communities when living in Germany with his wife and children while working at the Max Planck Institute. I challenge our dance musicians to write an Air and call it Planck-sty Stern.
To David and Synn, I know you were with him recently. When your dad and I spoke in mid-August he expressed his gratitude to you for all the help you provided. My deepest condolences to you both.

My heart goes out to everyone affected by Frank´s death. He was well-loved in so many communities. I am really glad I had the chance to know him.

This is a bit of what I wrote to my friends.
My friend Frank Stern passed away last week.
An avid supporter of the arts, brilliant and interesting human, kind and generous soul. Some of you may know him from Purchase, as he attended nearly every dance student showcase, enjoying the artistry and effort of the talented Purchase student body. He also audited several dance history courses there.
He was a dancer himself, well versed in English and Scottish country dancing, where we met. He deeply enjoyed the music for each, very knowledgeable about the forms and dances. Always my partner for the last waltz. (When i was there)
I am grateful that I was able to see him regularly in the past few years, and that I made time for meals and conversations no matter how busy I was.
He was sound, positive, practical, and kind right through his final weeks.
