That he was a gentleman, there is no doubt. That it was a pleasure to serve on his team at Doremus, there is no doubt. That he had an acute knowledge of the advertising business, there is no doubt. My sympathies to his family. He remains alive in my memory. Gene Burke (the Bronx).

I am so sorry to hear the sad news, and send my best wishes to my dear friend Jocelyn and the entire Schaffer extended family. Mr. Schaffer was a true gentleman and a loving father, and had kind words and sage advice for everyone who came into his world and the world of his kids. Although I hadn't seen him in many years, I know he will be greatly missed.
