I was just thinking about Geoff yesterday. I miss him. I remember when Susan and Geoff brought our unborn daughter a beautiful stuffed bear when we met them for coffee in Redondo Beach. Both kids still love the bear. I think about Geoff telling me about loving hikes above Albion Basin. When I think of him, I imagine him there in wildflower season hiking with family and friends. Geoff was a man of grace and tact. Qualities sorely missing in today's political world.

Geoff was my boss when we were both at NYCDOHMH. He took a chance on me, and became first my boss and later my friend. He laughed at himself often, and inspired others to find their joy as well. Thank you for all you have done.

My condolences to all the family. I remember Geoff as such a kind caring person when he would visit his Mother at Brighton Gardens. His article in Newsweek on Alzheimer's Disease was poignant. I was so sad to learn of Geoff's passing. Growing up I enjoyed camping trips with the Cowley family, and great times at both our cabins in Albion Basin. Geoff always struck me as a very gentle soul, very much like his beautiful mother. My condolences to all of his family. Godspeed Geoff!

My sweet friend...though we lost touch over the years, we we're fortunate enough to reconnect a couple of years ago. That time afforded us some very sweet memories of days gone by. You were & are an amazing soul & I'm forever grateful that I got to share but a tiny part of it for far too short of time. Your impact is forever...rest in peace sweet man.

Geoff was one of the nicest and most brilliant people I've had the pleasure to work with. He was the ultimate health journalist and consummate public health advocate. I was so sad to hear the news of his passing.

Geoff and I met when I interviewed for a position at the NYC Health Department many years ago. His enthusiasm was contagious and he had a lot of it when it came to public health. We were later both diagnosed with cancer. My fight was fortunately concise but Geoff's was not. Throughout it all he maintained a light heart and his focus was always on the hopeful and meaningful bits of life. He celebrated life. His was a perspective worth emulating.
For many of us it is rare to develop true connections to others and when it happens, it should be cherished. Geoff connected with many people through his personality and positivity, through his work as a prominent health journalist, expert and advocate and through his love for his family. I will miss him but his way of being will continue to inspire

I knew Mr. Cowley professionally for years and strongly admired his stewardship of Newsweek's medical and science coverage during the magazine's heyday. Mr. Cowley was a lovely person. I am deeply saddened. My condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.

Geoff inspired many of us to be better: better writers, advocates, people. He set a standard for those around him to rise to. I was lucky to work for him, have him be my mentor, and to call him friend. My heart goes out to the Cowley family at this time of grief and sorrow.

I had the pleasure of befriending Geoff during a Foreign Study League trip way back in 1972. Only four months ago we reconnected after all these years. How blessed I am and how sincerely sorry I am for your loss, Susan. Geoff was, and still is, one of the finest human beings I have ever known. I will never forget him.

The most gracious person I have met. He was kind and loving friend and family member. Interested in and concerned everyone before himself and brilliant with the pen and as a conversationalist.
