GEORGE BYRNES

BYRNES--George D., 90, of New York, NY, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025, after a long battle with dementia. Born in the Bronx, George was a lifelong Yankees fan. George attended Xavier High School in Manhattan and Fordham University, where he completed both his undergraduate and law degrees. After graduating law school, George clerked in the SDNY for Chief Judge Ryan (whom he considered a mentor and lifelong inspiration) and Judge MacMahon. It was during his time at the SDNY that he was introduced to admiralty law, which would become the cornerstone of his accomplished legal career. George was predeceased by his brother, Jack, and his sister, Geraldine. George leaves behind his beloved daughters, Karen Byrnes and Christine Byrnes, both of New York, NY.
