GEORGE HOLDERNESS Obituary

HOLDERNESS--George Malcolm Holderness. It is with deep sadness and a profound sense of loss that the partners of Milbank LLP mourn the passing of their dear friend and former partner George Malcolm Holderness. Malcolm, as he was known by family and friends, joined Milbank's Corporate Department in 1964. He was elected partner in 1974 and retired in 1996. Malcolm was a highly regarded, gifted corporate lawyer who was well-respected by colleagues and clients. He held degrees from Yale University and Harvard Law School. Prior to law school, he served proudly as an officer in the United States Navy. A lifelong New Yorker, Malcolm volunteered as a tour guide with the Central Park Conservancy and enthusiastically shared his extensive knowledge of the park with tour attendees. He also was a devotee of the arts; an avid hiker, cyclist and tennis player; and traveled widely with his wife Anne. Malcolm was a kind, earnest and much-loved man who will be fondly remembered at Milbank. We extend our deepest sympathies to Anne, his wife of 47 years, his step-niece and step-nephews, his cousins and his many friends.
