GEORGIANA LILIEN Obituary

LILIEN--Georgiana Wetherill, (nee Lewis) of New York City, aged 94, survived by her husband Robert for 69 years, her sister, four children, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Lilien, known as Sue, was raised in Haverford, PA. A lifelong volunteer, she was honored as a Volunteer of the Year by the New York Junior League, for her work in inner city New York City public schools. A member of the women's committee and legally blind herself, she helped develop the Discovery Room for partially-sighted children at the Museum of Natural History. She was a docent at the Metropolitan Museum and the Museum of the City of New York. A devoted theater-goer, Sue was first vice president of the Drama League of the City of New York. She was a long-serving director of the Barton Mines Corporation, a family business in North Creek, NY. A private memorial will be held in early May.

Sue and Bob LILIEN were amazing friends of my parents, Maggie Bradley and George Dwight. For many years, they were our Aunt Sue and Uncle Bob... and they were favorites. Always full of lovely tales of coming and goings and engaged with us kids whenever they spent time with our parents.
Sue and Bob were great, great friends to our mother and she visited them in France and had the time of her life. As my mother´s health fortunes declined, Sue and Bob were steadfast, loving, caring and kept in touch. It was a life long friendship for our mother that sustained her and brought just great joy
Sue and Bob are an everlasting love story. I always thought Sue was so beautiful.. her gorgeous eyes, dark hair, and oh her cheek bones.. funny I remember that as a child!
Sue was so animated and just brightened up our apartment when she came to visit.
To know that she and Bob had this incredible life filled with so much love.. somehow makes me smile even in the face of this loss.
Bob, I was and still am a huge fan of our beloved "Liliens"
I send you a huge hug and loads of love and hope that although your heart must be a little broken right now, that it is healed with a lifetime of love with your incomparable Sue!
