Gerard Reynolds Obituary

1951 - 2022
Gerard Reynolds passed peacefully in the early hours of Sunday July 10th after a prolonged battle with MS and Parkinson's. At 71, Gerard was the youngest child of Josephine and Clarence Reynolds. He is survived by his wife; Bernadette Caruso, two adult children; Jessica Bradbury and Matthew Caruso-Reynolds, a brother; Vincent Reynolds, sister; Jeanne, St. Marie, and numerous nieces and nephews. Gerard was a lifelong New Yorker, an alumni of St. Francis Xavier Academy and Bishop Ford High School; he enlisted at 17 to serve his country faithfully in the 173rd Airborne Division during the Vietnam war. Gerard returned home to earn a BA in Business Administration from Pace University. He held a number of interesting jobs as a cook, a baker, a NY city taxi driver, and a transporter for the physically disabled before joining many of his family members as a career Pressman for the NY Times, Daily News, and NY Post. He was passionate about the theatre and was the driving force and one of the founding members of Park Slope's RSVP Repertory Theatre which operated on 7th Street and 6th Avenue from 1978 to 1991. Gerard had a keen sense of justice, a wicked sense of humor, and mischievous twinkle in his eye until the day he passed.

A funeral mass will be held on July 29th at 10:30am at St. Francis Xavier Church on 6th Ave followed by a small celebration of life at Alchemy on 5th. Please note that the family are requesting that all attendees for either event have a negative covid test the morning of, in order to protect the health and safety of the of the people he loved.
