GLORIA TARADASH Obituary

TARADASH-- Gloria, "Glorious." On Friday evening, Decem-ber 24, 2021, Gloria, "Glorious" Taradash passed away at 10:40pm EST in New York City. She was laid to rest at the Riverside Cemetery in Saddlebrook, NJ on December 28th, 2021. Glorious was born in New York City, November 13, 1928 to Max and Mollie Grossman of Passaic, NJ - the older sister of Bernard Grossman and Sarah Sternick. She earned her Sociology degree from Rockford College in Illinois where she met the love of her life, Elliott Jules Taradash of Chicago. They married on December 18, 1949 and moved East to build their lives in Clifton, NJ and East Hampton, NY. Always curious about other cultures, Glorious planned adventures for herself and Elliott. They travelled to Central America and Mexico, where Glorious received permission from their governments to make "rubbings" of ancient Mayan carvings. These rubbings of Mayan warriors graced the walls of their homes, as well as international museums. From Afghanistan, to Pakistan, Russia, China, India, Asia, Turkey, the Middle East, Africa, the Arctic, Myanmar, South America, New Zealand, Australia, Easter Island, Mongolia, and Europe, their travels totaled over 100 countries, qualifying Glorious for membership in the prestigious Explorer's Club. They were the first Americans to go hot air ballooning in Spain. After her husband of 64 years passed, at the age of 90, Glorious bravely moved into New York City, and rented an apartment alone. Forever young at heart, she grabbed life with a zest not often seen in women her age. You would have been lucky to have known her and even luckier to have been loved by her. Glorious is survived by her daughters Meryl Taradash and husband Wayne P. La Pierre of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, Lauree Dash and her husband Ford Austin of Nichols Hills, Oklahoma and her grandson, Jeff Koch and his wife Rachel Rothberg Koch of New York City. Memorial donations may be sent to the Jewish Center of the Hamptons or The Chapin Home for the Aging.
