H. THOMAS Obituary

THOMAS--H. Grant, Sr., 95, passed away January 13th in Bloomfield, CT. after a full, happy and grace-filled life. In the course of that life, he was many things - among them, a loyal and athletically accomplished Nebraska Cornhusker; a decorated WWII bomber pilot; a successful insurance professional - for 42 years with the Aetna and subsequently with the Martin E. Segal Co.; an engaged and engaging citizen of the Houston and Hartford communities; the life of every party he ever attended and the friend of virtually every person he ever met; and most importantly, the patriarch of a large and loving family. He was predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Lucile Anderson Thomas, and by his beloved granddaughter Virginia Graeme Baker. He is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years, Beverly Wernick Thomas; five children; three step-children; 14 grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He not only sang the lyrics to "Young at Heart," but exemplified them. His life was an eloquent testimony to abiding themes of service, gratitude, joy and love. "Pops" touched many, many lives, and we are deeply thankful that ours are among them. There will be a memorial service at Asylum Hill Congregational Church on January 26, 2013 in Hartford, Connecticut. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the H. Grant Thomas scholarship fund of the First Tee of Connecticut or the charity of your choice.
