HARRIET ABRAMS

ABRAMS--Harriet Shalit. Harriet Shalit Abrams passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025, in Davie, Florida, where she resided at Oakmonte Assisted Living. She was the last surviving sibling of Joslyn Schwartz, Sharon Rubenstein, and Barry Shalit. Born on August 12, 1932, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Doris Bromberg and Samuel Shalit, Harriet spent her childhood on Fourth Street in downtown Albuquerque. She studied Music Education at the University of New Mexico and later received a full scholarship to the prestigious Juilliard School of Music in New York. After returning home, she met her future husband, Norman Abrams, a dentist from New Rochelle, New York. She later moved to New Rochelle, continuing her singing career and performing at the Metropolitan Opera Theatre. After the birth of her first daughter, Bettina, Harriet began a successful career in real estate in Larchmont, specializing in high-end homes. The family eventually settled in Scarsdale, where she and Norman raised their daughters, Bettina and Babette, while Harriet continued to sing locally. In the early 1970s, Harriet earned her degree as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and went on to work for Nestle and Blythedale Children's Hospital. In the mid-1980s, she and Norman moved to Boca Raton, where he pursued sculpting and Harriet treasured time with her granddaughters, Shelby Nicole and Kylie Elisabeth. After Norman's passing in 1996, Harriet rediscovered joy through travel and later developed a passion for financial investing, outperforming the S&P 500 for several years and helping build generational security for her family. Harriet will be remembered for her resilience, humor, and ability to connect deeply with others. She loved simplicity, nature, adventure, and meaningful conversation. Her eclectic habits--like climbing trees and collecting frog-- smade her unforgettable. She taught her family about food, culture, investing, and the importance of time together. A life beautifully lived. Rest in peace, Grandma Bubby, my beautiful Mamacita. You will be forever missed.
