HELEN BRUCKENTHAL Obituary

BRUCKENTHAL--Helen

Francine (nee Schoenberg). 83, of complications from fronto-temporal dementia. A graduate of Washington Irving High School and City College of New York (M.A., Art Education), Helen devoted her life to teaching and mentoring students, motivating those she met, and creating art. She was an art teacher and College Bound coordinator at Morris High School in the South Bronx, volunteered as a docent at the Neuberger Museum of Art in Purchase, NY, painted at the Westchester Art Workshop in White Plains, NY, and exhibited and sold her works from time to time. Creative, artistic, and dramatic, with a booming teacher's voice, a ready laugh, and a love of learning, she consistently motivated family, friends, colleagues, and students to visualize and achieve their full potential. She leaves behind a husband of 59 years, Bob; a daughter Eileen; a small family of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and thousands of students, colleagues, and friends whose lives she touched. I was deeply fond of Helenfor many years as a fellow docent. I never knew that we went to the same Hi gh School. She had a great laugh and was fun to work with. I missed her when she left and will always remember her wonderful spirit. My condolences to Bob. Annette

So sorry for the family's loss. There are no words sufficient to describe the pain you are feeling. May your loving memories of the times you shared of Helen bring you a measure of comfort now and in the days to come.
