HERBERT RABIN

1930 - 2022

RABIN--Herbert Martin, PhD, died peacefully at home on May 28, 2022 after a prolonged illness. Herb was born on July 23, 1930 to David and Bertha Rabin in Kansas City, MO. He is survived by his wife Judith Rustin, for whom he was colleague, friend and husband; three children; Mark, who credits him for catalyzing his love of music, Ross, and Cara, who seeks to emulate her father's kindness and compassion; five grandchildren, one great-grandson, and one brother, Sheldon. Dr. Rabin received his Bachelor's degree from UCLA, a PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Illinois, and individual and group psychoanalytic certificates from the Postgraduate Center in New York City. He maintained a full time psychoanalytic clinical practice that included teaching and supervision in various clinical psychology programs and psychoanalytic institutes. In addition to the love of his professional work and family, he was devoted to regular exercise, the New York Giants, The New York Times, and historical biographies. A memorial service is planned for late June, 2022.
