HONIE BERKO

BERKO--Honie. Honie died on May 19. When we rise from shiva it will be to face a world that has lost the last guiding hand of a generation of our family. Mom was as fierce in her love of our family and our people as she was prudent in business and charity. There were no bounds to her loyalty to all of us and our people, her joy for the other's joys and her sorrow and worry during troubled times. She was extraordinary in her guidance especially during the last 13 months, having to do so without the love of her life for 69 years. In a surprise only to her, throughout our mom's days she was ever more sought out for her wisdom, sense of humor and charm. Though we may be feeling lost amid her absence, we will chart our directions knowing we hold inside ourselves the innumerable blessings of her life and, as she did, steer our selves forward.
