HOWARD BURAK Obituary

BURAK--Howard Paul, devoted husband of the late Edna Goodman Burak, loving father of Hally (Greg) and Jason (Rebecca), adored grandfather to Annabel and Sam, beloved brother to Michael and the late George, passed away on February 25, 2025 at 90 years due to complications from Alzheimer's disease. Paul was a life-long New Yorker, born and raised in Washington Heights. He was a proud graduate of Stuyvesant High School, Cornell University, and Columbia Law School where he served on the Columbia Law Review. He started his legal career with the US State Department rising to Assistant General Counsel for Africa before entering private practice in Washington, DC and later in New York City. A partner at Katten Muchin Rosenman, he also served as an advisor and board member for Sony Corporation of America and Sony Entertainment. Upon his retirement, he volunteered with the Retired Executive Service Corps supporting community development and the arts. In 1970, Paul married his wife of 50 years. Together, they enjoyed the theater, dance, jazz, traveling, reading, and spending time in Westport, CT. Paul was a kindhearted, devoted, and generous son, brother, father, grandfather, husband, friend and colleague who found joy in helping others succeed.
