Howie and I were on the opposite side of litigations and arbitrations between the NBA and the NBA Players Association our entire careers. He was a brilliant and tenacious adversary. But he also was a friend. He never lost sight of the fact that people could disagree passionately about an issue, but still have respect for each other’s views - a lesson for our times. He also was wickedly funny - often at my expense. I will miss him.

We heard many stories about Howie from our mutual grandson Jake. Jake loved that his Pop Pop would sometimes bend the rules to add fun to their shared times. These memories will last a life time. Well done Howie.
