KAHN--Irving. The family of Irving Kahn's son, Alan R. Kahn, announces with profound sorrow the passing of our patriarch in his 110th year. Irving was a man of immensely diverse interests whose life was as full as it was long. He pursued a lifetime of reading and learning in all fields, particularly the sciences. He was a pioneer in the investment world, having honed his craft as a student of the late Benjamin Graham of Columbia University (in whose classes he met the woman-through borrowing her homework-who was to become his wife, the late Ruth Perl Kahn). To Alan, Irving was as much a mentor as Benjamin Graham was to him. We, his loving son and daughter-in-law, granddaughters and grandson-in-Iaw, and great-grandchildren, will sorely miss his guidance, wisdom, and ever-cheerful outlook on life. Alan, Linda Parnes Kahn, Dr. Amanda H. Kahn-Kirby (Mason), Dr. Kimberly R. Kahn, Julia and Miles Kirby.

Alan, I remember you and your family very well. My father, Gene Habas, was a good friend of Irving and helped found the Society of Security Analysts with him. I remember visiting your family in Belle Harbor and Mattituck and enjoying sparkling conversation.
Irving was truly one of a kind and our thoughts are with all of you.

You, sir, will always be an inspiration to all value investors and indeed to anyone who wants to live a rich, full life doing what they love. While we never met, your passing fills me with great sadness. If I can achieve even a tenth of what you achieved in your time here, I will leave this planet a happy man. Rest in Peace, Irving Kahn. You will be deeply missed.

Oh, Irving, you are gone too soon. I never finished learning from but you were a wonderful "guiding light". Thank you for your time & invaluable insights.
