ISAAC HELLER Obituary
Isaac Heller, of Scotch Plains, NJ, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at age 88. He was the beloved husband of Helaine Heller for 61 years. Ike, as he was known, was father/father in law to Audrey and Jack Romberg, Laurie Kaufman, Hollie Heller and Ralph Joseph, Hillary and Luke Granfield. His legacy includes 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Mildred Galen and brother Paul Heller. The loss of his presence will also be felt by many nieces and nephews. Ike was a genuine American "rags to riches" story. After serving in the US Navy in World War II, he bought some army surplus radio parts, set up shop in the basement of his brother in law's store, and built the Remco Toy Company. Remco was one of the prominent toy manufacturers of the 1950's and 1960's. After leaving Remco in 1965, Ike began a second, even more successful business, Heller Industrial Parks. He served as chairman of the board and CEO until his death. While Ike was generous with many charities, providing scholarships to Jewish teens to study in Israel was particularly dear to his heart. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 11, 11:30am at Temple Emanu-El, 756 E. Broad St. Westfield, NJ. Services are being handled by Menorah Chapels at Millburn. The heartwarming and heartbreaking funeral service at Temple Emmanuel in Westfield, New Jersey today, where children and grandchildren paid tribute to Isaac Heller, made me want to wish that this wonderful man could have lived forever. The world needs more men like Ike.

Ike was far more than his extraordinary professional accomplishments. He was so generous with his time and he cared about his friends in such a meaningful way. He was always quick to help and give of himself in any way he could. My father, Sanford Davidow, had a long and devoted friendship with Ike. My Dad admired Ike tremendously and enjoyed his friendship for many years. Norman and I were also privileged to know Ike and Helene and to be able to appreciate the kind and caring people that they are. Arline and Norman Shaffer
