JACK GRUNSPAN Obituary

GRUNSPAN--Jack.

Bnai Zion mourns the loss of our Executive Vice President. Jack joined Bnai Zion as a member in 1973 and over the years served as a volunteer in numerous capacities including chairman of the Finance Committee and President of the Doctor Harris J. Levine Chapter. In 1998 he was elected National Secretary and joined the staff as Director of Development, using his background in estate planning to lecture and fundraise nationwide and expand the profile of the organization. In 2006 he was named Executive Vice President. His dedication to Bnai Zion and to the people of Israel is an inspiration to us all. He was a real mensch and will be truly missed. Our hearts go out to his wife Judi and his children Rachel and David, and may his entire family be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem. David H. Eisenberg, National President George W. Schaeffer, Chairman of the Board Mel Parness, Exec. Vice President Emeritus Raymond M. Patt, Honorary Chair Cheryl Bier, COO

I worked with Jack for several years at JNFand I can safely say that he was a true friend and one of my favorite colleagues. Never a harsh word, always prepared to listen, full of fun and always caring, He taught me much and I will never forget him.

So saddened to learn of Jack's passing. I met him professionally through my work with the Bnai Zion Foundation. He was a mensch and
a devoted and caring professional. May his memory be a blessing.

Jack was my neighbor. He was one of the nicest most generous men I've ever met. And of course funniest. When I moved in he was the first person who came over to introduce himself when he saw me for the first time. In a short period of time I felt like I'd known him forever. Jack and Judi brought a mezuzah from Israel for our new home. Over the years we got to know each other...exchanging Purim baskets...inviting us over yearly to eat in his Sukkah. I avoid gluten and one day he showed up at the door with a box of gluten free cupcakes from a gluten free bakery across from his office...just because! That was Jack. I am heartbroken and I will miss him.

I came to know Jack Grunspan through my work as Executive Director of Bnai Zion's Western Region. Together, we battled through a tough recession, and developed a strong bond.

I will always remember Jack as a mentche's mentch, and a straight shooter!

Rest in piece, old friend -- and may your memory always be for a blessing!
