JAN TUTTLEMAN

TUTTLEMAN--Jan. The Officers, Board of Directors, and worldwide staff of The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) mourn the untimely passing of our esteemed Board member and friend Dr. Jan Tuttleman, of La Jolla, California. Soon after joining our Board, she and her husband, Craig, became members of JDC's Warburg Society, thereby affirming their commitment to and generous support for JDC's life-sustaining endeavors in Israel and 70+ other countries. Dr. Tuttleman combined a distinguished career in microbiology and the life science industry with an active involvement in the philanthropic world. She served as Chair of the Board of the Jewish Federation of San Diego County and as president of the Women's Division; she was the founding chair of the Jewish Women's Foundation of San Diego and a co-founder and president of Women Give San Diego; and she held leadership roles in the Jewish Community Foundation of San Diego, the Burnham Institute for Medical Research, and other community organizations. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Craig; to her children, Sophie, Emma, Jared, and Gage; and to her extended family. May her memory be for a blessing. Penny Blumenstein, President Dr. Irving A.
